History

Glynt Manor was built by descendants of Victoria’s first permanent white settlers as a family holiday retreat overlooking Port Phillip Bay.

Owned by the Buxton Family from 1917 – 1983 the 31 hectare property featured sweeping lawns, orchards and farmlands that ran right to the edge of the bay.

In 1969 the family subdivided the property but retained the manor and 5 acres of beautiful English and French inspired gardens.

In 1983 Bill and Val King purchased the grand old manor and lovinglyrestored it to its former magnificence.  They ran it as a local mecca oftourism, naming it "Glynt By The Sea" offering special interest and privatetours and accomodation.  They successfully marketed the manor as the firstsmall hotel and tourism business in Victoria to Australian, US and UKtourists.

In 1998 the property was purchased by Mark Callan and William Gilchrist. The Tower was converted to a suite and it was run as a smaller scaleboutique hotel.

Early in 2008 Glynt Manor was sold to Demetri and Lila Sideropoulos who are now able to realize a lifelong dream of establishing a grand European style luxury retreat offering discerning guests a glamourous and unforgettable experience.
